The scheme design was strongly influenced by its town centre setting opposite a large, bland office building and adjacent to a terrace of 3 storey Edwardian houses.

  • The urban scale was maintained
  • The mature trees were carefully retained
  • The rear of the site was developed as a more intimate courtyard
  • High levels of sound and thermal insulation achieved

This striking scheme was recommended for award entries by the local authority as it was considered to contribute a positive punctuation to the urban environment and streetscape.
