City West housing completed

The completion of the first phase of 39 dwellings on the Mount Skip estate brings about the culmination of an extensive consultation programme delivered in conjunction with City West Housing Trust Neighbourhood officers to reinstate 3 cleared maisonettes sites as part of their ongoing investment in Little Hulton. The mix of bungalows and family houses, as well as a small proportion of apartments, was designed to enhance the existing street layout and reflects the palette of materials present within the estate as well as retaining existing landmarks such as informal play-spaces and mature willow tree.

The first site has also been handed over on the nearby Kenyon Gateway estate, situated on Briar Hill Avenue it consists of 8 family houses for rent with shared vehicular and pedestrian access using the ‘Manual for streets’ design principles. The remaining 42 dwellings are all underway and due for completion by the end of June 2015.

These two sites follow on from the 16 dwellings completed last year on Wildbrook Road, also in Little Hulton.

“The street scene has been transformed by the insertion of the new homes into the fabric of the existing residential area.”
