Amblecote Interior recognition
Our extra care interior scheme for City West Housing Trust has been judged as one of the top six in the country by leading industry magazine, Inside Housing.
The £7m Amblecote Gardens extra care facility in Little Hulton, Salford was chosen in the Extra Care Developments of the Year category.
It is set in the midst of 100 new family homes so residents share amenities such as a GP practice, pharmacy and library.
Our work to design the interior of the scheme was recognised by the judges as playing a key role in its success. View the article at insidehousing.co.uk/developments-of-the-year.
We included navigational clues around the building using colour, soft furnishings, plants and significant pieces of artwork including sculptures to help orientation for residents.
Each wing and floor has a different theme while water features and gentle, ambient noises help create a relaxing atmosphere and encourage regular sleeping patterns.
City West Housing Trust calculates that if this scheme was replicated across the country, the NHS could save £1.3bn-a-year on health care issues caused by inadequate housing.
