This scheme has been designed to accommodate the needs of the family throughout the period that it might occupy the dwelling. It can be used by a large and growing family in the early years and split to accommodate elderly family members later.
The concept works on a ‘hard shell/soft core’ concept, allowing the external envelope to remain unchanged while the interior can be altered to suit the needs of the residents.
By providing homes for a lifetime, sustainable neighbourhoods can become populated by family groups differing in size and age, to create mixed, inclusive communities.
